Loop 1604 North Expansion Project to Cause Major Closure Starting April 26 through April 29, 2024

San Antonio, TX – In conjunction with the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has announced a full weekend closure of various lanes and ramps at the Loop 1604 and I-10 Interchange. Starting from 9 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, several key sections will be affected, including all four cloverleafs at the interchange, the Loop 1604 westbound and eastbound frontage roads, mainlanes, collector-distributors, and more.

This closure is necessary for bridge construction and bent cap replacement as part of the ongoing expansion project. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect delays during this period. Law enforcement will be present to assist with traffic management throughout the closure.

Detour routes have been established to guide drivers through the affected areas. For instance, travelers heading from I-10 westbound to Loop 1604 westbound will exit at La Cantera Parkway, use the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway, and return to Loop 1604 via the eastbound frontage road. Similar detour routes are provided for other affected directions.

It’s essential for commuters to stay updated on any changes or modifications to the closure schedule, as weather conditions may affect the timeline. For more information and updates, individuals can visit the TXDOT website or contact local authorities.

The Loop 1604 North Expansion Project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity in the region, addressing the growing transportation needs of San Antonio residents and visitors.
