Loop 1604 North Expansion Project: Major Closure Notice
Nightly Full Intersection Closure: NW Military Highway Intersection
San Antonio, Texas (May 16, 2024) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a major closure notice as part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project. Nightly full intersection closures are scheduled for the NW Military Highway intersection underneath the Loop 1604 overpass, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes as well as turnarounds. Additionally, a left lane closure will be implemented on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road from Lockhill Selma Road to NW Military Highway.
These closures are essential for setting girders for bridge widening as part of the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project. The closures will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on Friday, May 17, 2024, weather permitting. However, all closures are subject to change and modification as necessary. Local law enforcement will be present to direct traffic through intersections during this time to ensure safety.
Detour Information:
– Loop 1604 Eastbound Frontage Road to NW Military Highway Northbound: Traffic from the Loop 1604 EB frontage road and NW Military Highway NB will be directed to take the Loop 1604 EB frontage road to turnaround at Bitters Road. Traffic will then continue on the Loop 1604 WB frontage road back to NW Military Highway NB.
– Loop 1604 Westbound Frontage Road to NW Military Highway Southbound: Traffic from the Loop 1604 WB frontage road and NW Military Highway SB will be directed to take the Loop 1604 WB frontage road to turnaround at Lockhill Selma Road. Traffic will then continue on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road right lane back to NW Military Highway SB.
In addition to the NW Military Highway closure, TxDOT also announced a nightly full intersection closure at Lockhill Selma Road underneath the Loop 1604 overpass on Thursday, May 16, 2024. This closure will affect both northbound and southbound lanes, including turnarounds.
These closures are essential steps in the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project and are necessary for the progress of bridge widening activities. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, and all closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
