San Antonio based Whataburger Thanks Educators with Free Breakfast and $63,000 in Grants

SAN ANTONIO – Whataburger, the iconic Texan fast-food chain, is showing its appreciation for educators during National Teacher Appreciation Week by offering free breakfast and granting $63,000 to deserving teachers across its 15-state footprint.

From May 6th to May 10th, educators can visit any Whataburger location from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and present their school ID badge to receive a complimentary breakfast entree. Options include a Taquito, Breakfast on a Bun, or the beloved Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Additionally, each participating teacher will receive a WhataTeacher lanyard.

Moreover, Whataburger is awarding $1,000 grants to 63 teachers to support their schools’ needs. Donna Tuttle, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Whataburger, expressed gratitude for educators, stating, “Teachers are true heroes… Whataburger’s free breakfast offer and WhataTeacher grants are just small ways we try to say thank you for their powerful work.”

These grants are part of Whataburger’s Feeding Student Success program, which aims to address food insecurity and education. The program includes initiatives like Whataburger Resource Rooms on college campuses, scholarships, and collaborations with local schools on hunger awareness programs.

Scott Hudler, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Whataburger, emphasized the importance of recognizing educators’ dedication. “Offering free breakfast during National Teacher Appreciation Week is just one small way we’re trying to make every school employee’s day a little brighter… Our hope is that the 63 grants being awarded will provide teachers with additional resources they need and show a bit of gratitude for their hard work and dedication all year.”

Any school employee can redeem the free breakfast deal by presenting their ID badge during Teacher Appreciation Week, whether dining in or using the drive-thru. The promotion is available system-wide.
