New Braunfels, TX – Dust off your lederhosen and dirndls, because Wurstfest 2025 is back and ready to bring ten unforgettable days of German heritage, Texas charm, and of course, sausage! From Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 16, the dedicated Wurstfest Grounds near the headwaters of the Comal River will once again transform into a lively festival of food, music, and Bavarian spirit.

A Tradition Since 1961

What began in 1961 as a small one-day event honoring sausage, created by city meat inspector Ed Grist, has grown into one of Texas’ largest cultural celebrations. Today, Wurstfest draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, featuring live entertainment, authentic German food and drink, carnival rides, and community fundraisers.

From the famous “biting of the sausage” and keg tapping at the opening ceremony, to lively polka and yodeling, Wurstfest remains a beloved tradition that blends Alpine culture with Texas hospitality.

Entertainment Lineup

This year’s festival will once again feature a star-studded lineup of international and local performers across multiple stages. Highlights for Opening Weekend include:

  • Squeezebox w/ Mollie B & Ted Lange – Polka Hall of Famers and Grammy nominees headlining Wursthalle on Friday, Nov. 7.

  • Die Bayrischen Hiatamadln – Direct from Bavaria, this six-piece Oktoberfest band brings a true Munich-style party.

  • Alex Meixner Band – A Wurstfest favorite, Meixner blends polka with pop, jazz, and funk influences for a high-energy performance.

  • Yodel Blitz – A comedy-folk group mixing traditional yodeling with hilarious showmanship.

  • Happy Hour Oktoberfest Band, Walburg Boys, Alpenmusikanten, Cloverleaf Orchestra, and many more filling the Grosse Zelt, Kleine Zelt, Stelzenplatz, and Stelzenhaus stages.

Saturday brings encore performances along with the Comal Community Band, Beethoven German Dance Band, Mark Halata & Texavia, and Kerry Christensen, Master Yodeler, known worldwide for his Alpine vocal stylings.

Food & Drink

No German festival is complete without hearty food and cold beer. Wurstfest 2025 features dozens of vendors serving everything from classic bratwurst, schnitzel, and kartoffelpuffers to Texas-inspired takes like sausage tacos and jalapeño-cheddar wurst.

Favorites returning this year include:

  • New Braunfels Smokehouse with its famous Wurstkabob sampler.

  • Schnitzel & Giggles, serving schnitzel on a stick.

  • Carlton’s, offering Cajun specialties alongside sausage creations.

  • Woodstock Pretzel Company, Fredericksburg Mini Donuts, and countless nonprofit booster clubs supporting local schools and organizations.

Of course, guests can raise a stein of German, Texan, or domestic beer in one of the sprawling biergartens, or sample craft sodas and family-friendly treats from local vendors.
