Women Leadership Forges the Way at Hill Country Golf Club

Women Leadership at Hill Country Golf Club

SAN ANTONIO, TX (March 7, 2025) – In celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Hill Country Golf Club at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is proudly recognizing the strong leadership of the women driving the club’s success. Under the guidance of Director of Golf Ashley Garcia, the club is making strides in a traditionally male-dominated industry, highlighting the impact of women leaders in golf.

Ashley Garcia: Pioneering Women’s Leadership in Golf

Ashley Garcia, the club’s Director of Golf, has built an impressive career in the industry, beginning at The First Tee program at just 13 years old. Encouraged by mentor Janet Kernan, Garcia pursued a Business Management degree at Sam Houston University and earned her PGA Certification, setting the foundation for a career that has taken her across the country.

Starting as a golf attendant at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines, she expanded her experience with roles at The Broadmoor in Colorado, Promontory in Utah, and The Golf Club at Southwind in Kansas City. Her journey led her to Hill Country Golf Club in 2019, where she quickly rose from Tournament Coordinator to Director of Golf.

“In a sport and industry typically dominated by men, I am incredibly proud to lead a strong team of women here at Hill Country Golf Club,” said Garcia. “My goal is to continue growing my career while inspiring young women to explore the vast opportunities available in golf. Women bring unique perspectives and strengths to the game, and fostering leadership in this space is important for the future of the sport.”

Garcia’s accolades include:
🏆 2017 Section Player Development Award – Southern Texas PGA (STPGA)
🏆 2020 Western Chapter Golf Professional of the Year – STPGA
🏆 2021 & 2024 STPGA Merchandiser of the Year for Resorts

Her advice to young women entering the industry: “Be patient, develop a thick skin, and never let anyone tell you that you’re not good enough. There is a place for women in golf leadership, and with perseverance, you can achieve your goals.”

Jennifer Lauzon: Leading Women in Golf Sales

As Golf Sales Manager, Jennifer Lauzon brings over 20 years of experience to the role. A former high school golfer and a Texas A&M University graduate in Communication and Sports Management, Lauzon has dedicated her career to the business side of the sport.

Her journey began in golf course operations, working at Troon Golf, Old Ranch Country Club, and The Resort at Pelican Hill before taking on leadership roles at Horseshoe Bay Resort and The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.

“My best advice to young women pursuing a career in golf is to just start somewhere,” said Lauzon. “Get your foot in the door and work hard. Every role I’ve held has helped me grow and led me to where I am today.”

Rachel Ingram: Elevating Golf Events at Hill Country Golf Club

As Golf Event Planning Manager, Rachel Ingram plays a key role in coordinating tournaments and events at Hill Country Golf Club. From corporate tournaments and charity fundraisers to professional competitions, Ingram ensures seamless execution, managing vendor coordination, food and beverage services, and logistics.

“I love being involved with all of the junior golf organizations that we regularly host at Hill Country Golf Club,” said Ingram. “The game of golf helps develop youth in so many positive ways, and it’s rewarding to know our work makes a meaningful impact on the sport’s future.”
