What you need to know about the Alamo Bowl
The Valero Alamo Bowl Kickoffs at 6:30 p.m. on December 31st inside the Alamodome between Texas Longhorns and Utah Utes.
If you’re attending the game tonight, here are some things you should know.
- Parking lots open at 10 a.m.
- Tailgating lot is is the B Lot
- Fan Zone at Sunset Station starts at 1 p.m.
- The doors to the Alamodome open at 4:30 p.m.
- Clear bag policy is in effect – clear bags larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches will not be allowed.
- – One-gallon plastic freezer bags, medically necessary bags and diaper bags will be allowed but checked by security.
- Non-clear bags larger than 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches will not be allowed.
- Backpacks, camera cases, seat cushions, tinted plastic bags and binocular bags are prohibited inside the Alamodome.
There’s plenty of tickets available at Ticketmaster and price range varies on the area you want to sit.
After the game, attendees will be able to watch the firework show front and center after the clock strikes midnight on the North Plaza of the Alamodome. There will be entertainment by DJ and food trucks.
Due to the New Year’s Eve celebration, there will not be a last call for alcohol.
The Alamodome will close at exactly 12:30 a.m. following the 15 minute firework show.
The Alamodome parking lots will remain open for those with parking passes until 12:45 a.m.
For those that wish to ride the VIA, $5 round trip park and ride will take pick up and take off from the following locations.
- Crossroads Park and Ride (151 Crossroads Blvd)
- Blossom Athletic Center (12002 Jones Maltsberger Rd.)
- Brooks Transit Center (7903 S. New Braunfels Ave)
Park and ride service runs from 3:30 p.m. through 12:30 a.m. at the Robert Thompson Transit Center at the Alamodome.

The designated drop off and pick up is located at the corner of Montana and Tower of Americas Way.
