SAN ANTONIO, TX — November 6, 2025 — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced a series of weekend closures related to the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, with nightly and daytime closures scheduled from Friday, November 7 through Monday, November 10, 2025.
The closures are necessary to accommodate bridge construction near the I-10 interchange, part of the multi-phase expansion aimed at improving traffic flow and safety along the busy Loop 1604 corridor.
🚧 Weekend Nightly Closures
9 p.m. to 5 a.m. | Friday, Nov. 7 – Monday, Nov. 10, 2025
Affected Areas:

Eastbound (EB) Loop 1604 mainlanes at the interchange

Westbound (WB) Loop 1604 mainlanes from the exit east of the interchange to the entrance ramp after Babcock Road

WB I-10 to WB Loop 1604 flyover ramp

EB and WB I-10 frontage roads north of the interchange
During these closures, law enforcement will direct traffic as needed. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signage and plan for possible delays.
Detours:

EB Loop 1604 Mainlanes: Drivers will exit via the last ramp before the interchange to the EB frontage road, re-entering Loop 1604 after the I-10 interchange.

WB Loop 1604 Mainlanes & WB I-10 Access: Drivers will exit before the interchange to the WB frontage road and re-enter Loop 1604 after Babcock Rd. Those needing WB I-10 should use the U-turn at Kyle Seale Pkwy to access EB Loop 1604 and follow signs to WB I-10.

Alternate WB Loop 1604 to WB I-10 Route: Drivers will use the EB I-10 flyover, exit at De Zavala Rd., make a U-turn, and rejoin WB I-10 via the first available entrance.

EB I-10 Frontage Road: Drivers will detour via Via La Cantera to reach the WB Loop 1604 frontage road.

WB I-10 to WB Loop 1604: Drivers will exit at 556B, turn left onto the WB Loop 1604 frontage road, and re-enter after Babcock Rd.

WB Loop 1604 Mainlanes & WB I-10 Access: Drivers will exit before the interchange to the WB frontage road and re-enter after Babcock Rd. To reach WB I-10, use the Kyle Seale Pkwy U-turn and follow signs via EB Loop 1604.

Alternate WB Loop 1604 to WB I-10 Route: Use EB I-10 flyover, exit De Zavala Rd., and U-turn back to WB I-10 frontage.

WB I-10 to WB Loop 1604: Exit 556B, turn left on WB Loop 1604 frontage, and re-enter after Babcock Rd.
⚠️ What Drivers Should Know
All closures are weather permitting, and crews will work through the weekend to minimize impact. Drivers should allow extra travel time, reduce speed near work zones, and remain alert for lane shifts and detours.
The Loop 1604 North Expansion Project continues to make progress on widening the highway and improving interchanges to reduce congestion and enhance safety for San Antonio commuters.
