AUSTIN, Texas โ June 1, 2025 โ History was made under the lights at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The UTSA Roadrunners pulled off their second straight upset over the No. 2 national seed Texas Longhorns, winning 7โ4 on Sunday night to clinch the NCAA Austin Regional. With the victory, UTSA Baseball advances to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history.
Coming off a thrilling win Saturday, the Roadrunners carried that momentum into Sundayโs rematch, silencing a heavily partisan Texas crowd with clutch hitting and stellar pitching. The Longhorns, one of the tournamentโs top two national seeds, were stunned for the second night in a row, and will now await the result of the UCLA vs. UC Irvine matchup in Los Angeles to see who theyโll face in an elimination game.
Texas, a perennial powerhouse, struggled to keep pace with UTSAโs aggressive offense, while the Roadrunners’ bullpen delivered when it mattered most, holding off a late-inning surge from the Horns.
With the win, UTSA punches its ticket to the NCAA Super Regional round, set to take place in Southern California. The exact opponent will be determined as regional play wraps up.
UTSA’s magical postseason run continues โ and now the Roadrunners are just two wins away from a trip to the College World Series in Omaha.
Stay tuned. San Antonio is on the national stage.
