SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 2, 2025) – Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will conduct critical track maintenance that will require two temporary closures along the Loop 1604 frontage roads, potentially affecting traffic in the area. Although these closures are not related to the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, they may cause significant detours for drivers in Northwest San Antonio.

Closure #1: Eastbound Frontage Road

  • When: 9 a.m. Thursday, April 3 to 9 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 (weather permitting)

  • Where: Loop 1604 Eastbound (EB) Frontage Road from Tradesman Drive to Vance Jackson Road

Detour Details:

  • For EB Frontage Road Travelers: Enter Loop 1604 EB mainlanes via the entrance ramp after the I-10 interchange, then exit using NW Military Parkway. Use the turnaround at NW Military Parkway to access Loop 1604 WB frontage road and proceed to Tradesman Drive.

  • From Vance Jackson Road to Loop 1604 EB: Vehicles on Vance Jackson Road should turn onto the Loop 1604 WB frontage road and proceed to the turnaround before the I-10 interchange. Then, re-enter the Loop 1604 EB frontage road and follow detour signs accordingly.

Closure #2: Westbound Frontage Road

  • When: 9 a.m. Sunday, April 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 (weather permitting)

  • Where: Loop 1604 Westbound (WB) Frontage Road from Tradesman Drive to Vance Jackson Road

Detour Details:

  • For WB Frontage Road Travelers: Enter the Loop 1604 WB mainlanes via the entrance ramp after Lockhill Selma Road, then exit before the I-10 interchange. To reach Vance Jackson Road, use the turnaround before the I-10 interchange and follow the Loop 1604 EB frontage road.

  • For Business Access near Tradesman Drive: Exit at Tradesman Drive, cross the Loop 1604 intersection, and turn left onto the EB frontage road. To access the WB frontage road, use the turnaround at Lockhill Selma Road and follow the WB frontage road detour.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signage. Both closures are dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary.
