TxDOT Releases Weekly Lane Closures for Loop 1604 North Expansion Project

SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 11, 2025) โ€” The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced this weekโ€™s lane closures for the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, spanning five construction segments across North San Antonio. In observance of the Easter holiday weekend, there will be no planned major daytime closures from Friday, April 18 through Monday, April 21. However, to maintain project momentum, increased nightly closures are expected throughout the corridor during that period.

๐Ÿ“Segment 1: SH 16 (Bandera Rd.) to I-10

  • Night Closures (April 13โ€“18, 9 PMโ€“5 AM): Full intersection closures and mainlane/frontage lane closures at Hausman Rd., Kyle Seale Pkwy, Babcock Rd., Chase Hill Blvd., and La Cantera Pkwy for bridge and demolition work.

  • Frontage and mainlane paving operations will continue near I-10, with nightly alternating closures on both directions.

  • Exit and entrance ramps to/from I-10 and La Cantera Pkwy will be impacted by nightly construction.

  • Long-Term Closures (April 13โ€“21): Turnaround closures at La Cantera, Kyle Seale, and Chase Hill for retaining wall and bridge work.

๐Ÿ“Segment 2: Loop 1604 & I-10 Interchange

  • Night Closures (April 13โ€“18, 9 PMโ€“5 AM): Extensive ramp and cloverleaf closures, including connections between I-10 and Loop 1604 in both directions. Expect bridge construction and concrete barrier installations.

  • Frontage road closures will occur between De Zavala and Camp Bullis.

  • Weekend Closures (April 11โ€“14): Mainlane closures on both I-10 and Loop 1604, including bypass lanes and frontage roads. Law enforcement will assist with traffic direction at affected intersections.

  • Night Closures (April 13โ€“17, 9 PMโ€“5 AM): Alternating lane and frontage road closures for barrier setting, striping, and drainage work, especially near Tradesman Dr., Blanco Rd., and NW Military Hwy.

  • Weekend Closures (April 11โ€“14): Mainlane closures at Stone Oak Pkwy, Blanco Rd., and Lockhill Selma for paving and bridge construction.

  • Night Closures (April 13โ€“17, 9 PMโ€“5 AM): Full closures of US 281 frontage roads and turnarounds at the Loop 1604 interchange for bridge construction.

  • Weekday Closures (April 14โ€“May 2): Signal work and bridge construction will lead to multiple right-turn lane closures along Gold Canyon, Tuscany Stone, and Redland Rd., along with additional turnaround closures at Stone Oak Pkwy.

  • Night Closures (April 13โ€“17, 9 PMโ€“5 AM): Alternating frontage road and mainlane closures from Judson Rd. to Bulverde Rd., including intersection closures at Oโ€™Connor, Judson, and Bulverde for barrier placement.

  • Weekday Closures (April 14โ€“17): Alternating lane closures continue on frontage roads for daily barrier work.

  • Long-Term Closure: A full turnaround closure at Bulverde Rd. will be in effect April 14โ€“17.
