SAN ANTONIO โ Relief is on the way for thousands of drivers navigating one of the busiest interchanges in northwest San Antonio. By 5 a.m. on Monday, November 17, two brand-new flyover ramps will officially open at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange, marking a major milestone in the regionโs ongoing transportation improvements.
The newly completed ramps will provide motorists traveling eastbound on I-10 with direct access to both eastbound and westbound Loop 1604, easing congestion and eliminating previous bottlenecks that often slowed drivers during peak travel times.
TxDOT officials say the upgrade is expected to deliver smoother traffic flow, reduce merging conflicts, and improve overall safety at the high-volume interchange โ a key connection point for commuters, shoppers, and travelers accessing major areas such as La Cantera, UTSA, and the Rim.
The opening is part of the larger Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, a multi-year effort aimed at widening lanes, reconstructing connectors, and modernizing one of the cityโs most heavily traveled corridors.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert to new signage and traffic patterns as the ramps open early Monday morning.
With these upgrades now in place, San Antonio commuters can look forward to faster, safer, and more efficient drives through one of the cityโs most congested intersections.
