Two local school districts announce potential startup dates
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic that shuttered the spring semester of the school year, two districts are looking to reopen schools in the Fall.
North East Independent School District and San Antonio Independent School District announced their reopening plans during a city briefing.
NEISD Superintendent Dr. Sean Maika said that they are looking to open up on August 17th, however the safety of the students and staff is top priority.
Pedro Martinez, the Superintendent of SAISD says that they are aiming for opening up schools on August 10th with summer programming beginning in July.
The district proposes a hybrid model preparing students for their comeback at the beginning of the school year. They will also continue to look at the at-home distance learning. The option for children to be in the building will always be there.
