Two cases of the UK variant has been confirmed in Bexar County

The COVID-19 B.1.1.7 has been identified in two residents of Bexar County. What this means is that the COVID-19 strand has mutated from an original subject that was identified in the United Kingdom at the end of December 2020. There is also a South Africa and Brazil variant that has not been yet identified in Bexar County.

As this new strand is emerging within a large population, it is being carried throughout the United States and the world. As of now, scientists are studying on how this new strand of COVID is spread and if the new vaccination is effective against it.

In order to protect yourself and others, continue practicing social distancing at least 6-feet (2 meters) away from others. Keep wearing a face mask that covers both your nose and mouth.
