Two local San Antonio Macy’s stores will be shutting their doors this year (2021). Company officials confirmed that both the Rolling Oaks Mall and location at The Shops at the Rivercenter will be closing.
“The decision to close a store is always a difficult one, but Macy’s is honored to have served our customers and the community over the past 28 years at Macy’s Rolling Oaks and 31 years at Macy’s Rivercenter,” said Macy’s spokesperson Lauren Vocelle Phillips. “We look forward to continuing to do so at neighboring Macy’s locations.”
With the closure comes good news in the form of sales opportunities. A clearance sale will begin January and go about eight to twelve weeks.
Employees affected will be transferred to one of the four remaining stores in the area at North Star Mall, Ingram Park Mall, South Park Mall and The Shops at La Cantera. If either regular or non-seasonal employees aren’t able to be transferred, they will be eligible for a severance and outplacement opportunities.
