Tikitapu Splash 3

Aquatica, the beloved waterpark in the heart of Texas right here in San Antonio, is set to make waves in 2024 with the grand opening of Tikitapu Splash, a multi-level water-play attraction destined to be the ultimate water playground. Boasting 106 new spray and play elements, four thrilling water slides, and three colossal water dumping buckets, Tikitapu Splash promises an immersive experience for water enthusiasts of all ages.

Spanning an expansive 15,000 square feet, Tikitapu Splash is a vibrant outdoor playland featuring a myriad of interactive water elements. The attraction’s focal points include three giant tipping buckets, each unleashing a cascade of over 1325 gallons of refreshing water onto eagerly awaiting guests below. This spectacle is complemented by an array of features, including colorful water cannons, gushing waterspouts, and geysers, ensuring a water-soaked adventure like no other.

David Skelton, Vice President of Aquatica, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “At Aquatica San Antonio, we are excited to make a big splash with the all-new Tikitapu Splash. Our commitment to fun and innovation has resulted in a 15,000 square foot water playland extravaganza that will give the entire family even more ways to get wet and have fun.”

Designed with the park’s tropical oasis theme inspired by the Māori culture of New Zealand, Tikitapu Splash draws its name from Lake Tikitapu, also known as Blue Lake, one of the four small lakes in the Bay of Plenty Region. The name Tikitapu has roots in Māori history, referencing a sacred necklace believed to have been lost in the lake by the daughter of a high-ranking chief.

Adjacent to Whanau Waters, a series of shallow water pools perfect for the little ones, Tikitapu Splash will have its own vibrant theming, creating the most extensive and splashiest play area Aquatica has ever offered. The water wonderland is destined to be a go-to destination for guests seeking relief from the scorching Texas heat while enjoying a thrilling aquatic adventure.

In addition to Tikitapu Splash, Aquatica’s parent company, SeaWorld, is set to unveil another groundbreaking attraction in the spring of 2024. Catapult Falls, the world’s first launched flume coaster, promises an adrenaline-pumping experience with a state-of-the-art elevator, a 53-degree drop, and speeds reaching 30 ft/sec. This unique combination of a flume ride and a coaster aims to provide guests with the heart-pounding thrill of high speeds combined with the floating and coasting sensation of a boat on a river. Catapult Falls is poised to be another exceptional way for guests to beat the Texas heat and enjoy an unforgettable day at the park.
