SAN ANTONIO, Texas (June 20, 2024) – Get ready for a spectacular Independence Day as the San Antonio Parks Foundation, in partnership with The City of San Antonio, hosts the Official City of San Antonio Fourth of July Celebration presented by H-E-B. This beloved community event will take place on Thursday, July 4th from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM at Woodlawn Lake Park. Admission is free and open to the public, welcoming all ages.

– Date and Time: Thursday, July 4, 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM (fitness activities begin at 9:00 AM)
– Admission: Free and open to the public
Schedule of Activities
Fitness Activities (Start at 9 AM)
– 9 AM – 10 AM: Aqua Zumba Class at Woodlawn Lake Park Public Pool presented by the San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department.
– *Note: The pool will reopen for public swimming from 1 PM – 8 PM.*
– 10 AM – 12 PM: Zumba Class at Woodlawn Lake Gym presented by San Antonio Parks & Recreation.
– *No pre-registration required, first come first serve. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.*
Main Event (11 AM – 9:30 PM)
Starting at 11 AM, the park will buzz with traditional Fourth of July fare, including local food trucks and vendors offering turkey legs, BBQ, burgers, hot-dogs, tacos, gorditas, aguas frescas, raspas, corn, magonadas, cold drinks, and the famous chicken on a stick.
Carnival Games and Entertainment
– Carnival Games: Bull riding, Human Claw, and more.
– Live Performances: The United States Air Force Band of the West and DJ VEGAs.
Community Participation
– Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Texas
– Voter Registration Booths: Headcount and Radical Registrars
– USPS Freedom Stamp Unveiling: Postmaster Robert D. Carr, Jr. and the USPS Stagecoach.
Children’s Activities (11 AM – 2 PM)
– Provided by the San Antonio Public Library and the San Antonio Parks Foundation, near the playground under the pavilion.
Afternoon Festivities
– 12 PM – 5 PM: Wrestling matches hosted by Texas Wrestling & Entertainment.
– 2 PM – 5 PM: Free Que Sabor Lotería.
Evening Program
– 7 PM: Welcome Salute featuring distinguished guests, Bexar County Commissioners, and San Antonio City Council Members.
Grand Finale
– 9 PM: H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza – a 12-minute fireworks display that will light up the night sky.
Tips for Patrons
– No overnight camping at Woodlawn Lake Park.
– Woodlawn Lake Park is an alcohol-free environment.
– Please respect the neighborhood and leave no trace. Use appropriate containers for trash and recyclables.
– Do not block driveways and be mindful of “No Parking” signs; ticketing and towing will be enforced.
– What to bring: lawn chairs, blankets, reusable water bottles, sunscreen, umbrellas, and hats for sun protection.
