UTSA-area destination offers sports, food, drinks, live music and family-friendly fun all in one place

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Whether you’re cheering on the Spurs in the Finals, watching the World Cup, catching NFL / College Football action or simply looking for a place to unwind with friends and family, The Block SA has become one of San Antonio’s go-to gathering spots.

The popular food truck park and bar near UTSA recently upgraded its entertainment experience with a brand-new 100-inch screen, giving sports fans an even bigger way to enjoy their favorite teams and major sporting events.

Located at 14530 Roadrunner Way, The Block combines the best elements of a neighborhood hangout, sports bar, outdoor venue and food destination into one unique experience. Guests can enjoy seven locally owned food trucks, a full-service bar, yard games, live music and a welcoming atmosphere that is family-friendly, pet-friendly and teacher-friendly.

With a first-come, first-served setup, visitors are encouraged to arrive early, grab a drink, find a seat and settle in for an afternoon or evening of food, sports and entertainment.

“We wanted to create a place where everyone feels welcome,” said The Block owner John Barineau. “Whether you’re coming out to watch a game, enjoy dinner from one of our food trucks, listen to live music or just spend time with family and friends, there’s something here for everyone.”

The venue has become especially popular with students and staff from the nearby University of Texas at San Antonio thanks to its close proximity to campus and relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

Sports fans can catch major events throughout the year, including Spurs games, NFL football, college football, World Cup matches, UFC fights and other marquee sporting events on the venue’s new 100-inch screen.

Beyond sports, guests can enjoy a variety of weekly specials and entertainment.

Thursday nights feature the venue’s popular $1 Beer Night, while Friday evenings bring live acoustic performances from local musicians. Visitors can also challenge friends and family to outdoor games including cornhole, giant Jenga and giant Connect 4.

At the center of The Block’s appeal is its diverse lineup of food trucks, offering flavors from around the world.
