The Alamo to install temporary fencing in order to protect history
The historic Alamo just announced that they will be installing a temporary four-foot chain link fence on top of plastic water filled barriers that will surround the Alamo property. It will be installed on the sidewalk of the western edge of Alamo Plaza from the intersection of Alamo and Crockett Streets amid the continued protests downtown San Antonio. A second installation will be placed along from Alamo to Houston street.
The installation is to protect the historic Mission in downtown San Antonio that was built in 1718. The fence will be in place for as long as it needs to be.
In response to recent events and in consultation with the San Antonio Police Department, The Alamo will install new, temporary fencing today on Alamo Plaza. The fencing will secure The Alamo and will remain in place as long as events indicate it is needed. pic.twitter.com/8tPxWnWXvi

In another plan to protect the Alamo and Alamo Plaza, the city of San Antonio shut down the streets from vehicles and pedestrians nightly starting at 8:30 p.m. through 6 p.m. till June 7th.
Alamo Plaza will be closed to vehicular & pedestrian traffic nightly at 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m. until June 7. The closure is a precautionary measure to minimize the possibility of civil disturbance & damage to sensitive structures. (1/2)

We will reassess later this week to determine if any closures beyond the weekend are necessary. @SATXPolice will increase staffing in the downtown area to mitigate any potential disturbances. (2/2)
