Texas Special Olympics 2023 Summer games to be held in May in San Antonio

On Tuesday morning, April 4th, a gathering of athletes, volunteers, families, sponsors, and LETR officers met at the H-E-B Plaza outside of the Alamodome.  Everyone there was gathered for great special announcement of the Special Olympics Texas’ 2023 Summer Games that will be held at Morgan’s Wonderland.

The Special Olympics Summer games will be on May 18th through 21st and brought all to life by local sponsors H-E-B, San Antonio Sports and Wells Fargo. Statewide sponsors such as LETR, Toyota, Water Fleet, H-E-B Tournament of Champions, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Knights of Columbus, City of Richardson Corporate Challenge, Christi Stanley: Cherishing All Children, Texas Roadhouse, Morgan’s Wonderland, United Healthcare, Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Amerigroup Foundation have given their support.

The four day event is free and open to the public and coined as the largest SOTX competition of the year bringing over thousands of athletes from all over the Lone Star State. There will be thousands of spectators to cheer on the athletes.

This year those participating will in several sports and programs such as athletics (track & field), cycling, gymnastics, soccer, FUNdamental Sports, Healthy programs, Unified and more.

The Special Olympics athletes have been undergoing training for many weeks and months, while also competing in area level competitions.
