CENTRAL TEXAS – July 6, 2025 — After devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill Country over the Fourth of July weekend, several Texas-based companies are stepping up to help communities recover. From food and supplies to technology and financial aid, these homegrown businesses are showing what it means to stand with their neighbors when it matters most.
H-E-B: Helping Where It All Began
H-E-B, which started in Kerrville more than 100 years ago, has mobilized its Emergency Response Team, Disaster Relief Units, and Mobile Kitchen to support the very city where it all began. The company is working hand-in-hand with the Red Cross, local officials, and first responders to get help directly to the people who need it most.
“Kerrville and the Hill Country have a special place in the heart of our H-E-B family,” the company said. In addition to Kerrville, H-E-B is also sending aid to San Angelo. They’re delivering essentials like drinking water, emergency supplies, and food, continuing a long tradition of stepping up during disasters. For more than a century, H-E-B’s “Helping Here” spirit has been about showing up in meaningful ways during hard times.
AT&T: Keeping Texans Connected
AT&T is on the ground in Kerrville, providing critical communication support to residents and emergency crews. In partnership with the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center, AT&T has set up a 40-foot Mobile Connectivity Center at Schreiner University near Flato Hall. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this mobile hub offers free Wi-Fi, 16 computers, and charging stations for phones and devices.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Texas as they recover from this devastating flooding,” AT&T shared. The company also delivered power strips, charging cables, and blocks to the Texas Department of Emergency Management, ensuring residents can stay powered and connected. Their FirstNet Response Operations Group has responded to multiple emergency requests from public safety teams across the state.

USAA: $500,000 in Relief and Volunteer Support
San Antonio-based USAA has committed $500,000 in grants to support search, rescue, and recovery efforts. On top of that, they’re activating employee volunteers to help out in the affected communities.
“The destruction and loss we’re seeing in Texas is heartbreaking,” said USAA President and CEO Juan C. Andrade. “We’ve been part of this community for over 100 years, and we’ll continue to show up with action, compassion, and a willingness to help our neighbors recover and rebuild.”
USAA’s support is about more than writing checks—it’s about showing up with people, resources, and long-term commitment.
Whataburger: Feeding First Responders and Supporting Recovery
Whataburger is also stepping in, providing meals to first responders and support crews on the ground. With deep roots in San Antonio, the company says its heart is with Kerrville and the surrounding communities.
“We’re deeply saddened by the lives impacted and the devastation left behind,” Whataburger said. “We’re supporting and feeding emergency responders during this crisis and sending strength and hope to everyone still waiting for answers.”
They emphasized that recovery doesn’t end when the floodwaters recede. “We know rebuilding takes time. We’re committed to supporting our neighbors in the weeks and months ahead with care, comfort, and compassion.”
These companies aren’t just doing business in Texas—they’re living out the values that define what it means to be part of the community. As the people of Central Texas begin the long road to recovery, the outpouring of support from H-E-B, AT&T, USAA, Whataburger, and so many others is a powerful reminder that when Texans face hard times, they face them together.
