SAN ANTONIO, Texas — One of San Antonio’s leading Latinx theater companies is marking a major milestone this year.
Teatro Audaz has announced its 10th anniversary season, Audaz X: A Decade of Familia, featuring a new residency partnership, three mainstage productions, a recurring sketch comedy series and expanded community programming.
The landmark season celebrates a decade of bilingual, community-centered storytelling while laying the foundation for the company’s future growth.
“Audaz X stands as both a celebration and a call to action,” said co-founder and executive artistic director Laura T. Garza. “It highlights the importance of continued investment in Latinx theatre, community storytelling and the company’s future growth.”
New Home Through SAY Sí Partnership
A key development for the company is a seasonal residency partnership with SAY Sí.
For the first time in its history, Teatro Audaz will operate its office, rehearsal, storage and performance spaces under one roof at SAY Sí’s campus located at 1310 S. Brazos St.
Company leaders say the partnership will strengthen operations, foster artistic collaboration and support long-term sustainability.
“Having all of our work in one place, even for this season, is a meaningful step forward for our company,” Garza said. “This partnership with SAY Sí allows us to operate more intentionally, deepen our community connections and continue building the kind of artistic home our artists and audiences deserve.”
Sketch Comedy Returns This Summer
The season kicks off with the return of Audaz to the MAXX: Sketchy Nights in San Antonio, an SNL-inspired sketch comedy series blending local culture, satire, cabaret-style performances and San Antonio humor.
Season two launches June 24, with additional performances scheduled July 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 28.
Three Mainstage Productions
The company’s 2026 season will feature three productions centered around themes of family, identity and belonging.
“Con Mis Manos: Everyone’s Familia”
July 9-19
Written by Misael Martinez and directed by Jillian Campos, the bilingual drama follows a South Texas family coping with a mother’s battle with cancer while exploring heritage, identity and family bonds.
“Aye No! A Modern Gay Fairy Tale”
Aug. 27-Sept. 6
Written by Liz Coronado-Castillo and directed by Laura T. Garza, the play examines sexual identity, cultural expectations and family acceptance through the story of a young woman returning home to a Texas border town.
“Esperanza Rising”
Dec. 16-22
Adapted by Alvaro Saar Rios from the beloved novel by Pam Muñoz Ryan, the production tells the story of a young Mexican girl whose privileged life is upended, forcing her family to rebuild as migrant farmworkers during the Great Depression.
Investing in Future Storytellers
The season also includes youth programming through Camp Viva Broadway, a summer theater camp designed to nurture the next generation of performers and storytellers.
The camp concludes June 20 with a student showcase production of “Novio Boy”, a coming-of-age comedy written by Gary Soto.
A Decade of Community Storytelling
Since its founding, Teatro Audaz has earned recognition for producing bilingual works that amplify Latinx voices and underrepresented stories throughout South Texas.
As the company enters its second decade, Audaz X reflects both a celebration of its accomplishments and a commitment to expanding opportunities for artists and audiences alike.
