You see them on every corner of downtown San Antonio. Those dockless scooters. Some people say they’re a nuisance while others say that they’re convenient. The city of San Antonio have approved a series of regulations for those two wheeled rides on Thursday (February 14, 2019).
- Scooters can only be operated during the hours of 6am till 11pm.
- Scooter companies will be required to enforce that the scooters will be inoperable outside the approved hours.
- Scooters will be only parked in permitted areas, those scooters that are in prohibited areas or blocking ADA facilities will be removed without warning.
- Scooters will be removed to accomodate special events, construction or maintenance work.
- A cap has been applied and has been limited to 14,000 scooters with permits in the city of San Antonio including rental bikes.
The regulations approved today will go into effect Tuesday on the vehicle pilot program.
