Still not too late for free flu shot

San Antonio Metropolitan Health District are providing free flu shots from 8am – 3pm Monday through Friday at 210 N. Mel Waiters Way or on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1226 NW 18th Street. It’s best to make an appointment first by calling 210-207-8894.

The shot is free and will help protect you. SA Metro Health has seen a rise in flu related cases and encourages anyone ages 6 on up to get vaccinated. Those who are pregnant or have underlying health issues should get vaccinated as soon as possible according to heath professionals at SA Metro Health District.

They also share best practices to prevent you from contracting the flu this Winter season.

  • Cough into your hands or elbow
  • Carry hand sanitizer and apply especially after touching door handles or money.
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before eating.
  • If you are sick, distance yourself from others.
  • Stay home if you’re feeling ill or sick because you might be already contagious.
