SAN ANTONIO — September 2, 2025 — History will come to life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, as the community is invited to San Antonio Missions Heritage Day, a free cultural event exploring the city’s 18th-century beginnings. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in the stories, traditions, and skills that shaped early life in the region.

A Glimpse Into the 1700s

Guests will learn about the Spanish colonial missions, established in the early 1700s, and the people who lived and worked within them. The event will feature personal accounts from descendants of Indigenous communities who contributed to mission life, as well as descendants of the Canary Island settlers, San Antonio’s first civilian residents.

Living History in Action

To enrich the experience, living historians will host interactive demonstrations, recreating everyday life at the missions. From preparing traditional foods to practicing historic trades, the demonstrations will showcase how residents lived, worked, and built a community that became the foundation of modern San Antonio.
