Beginning June 22nd, if you’re planning on going shopping or entering any establishment all customers and employees must wear face coverings due to the spike in COVID-19. Businesses who don’t comply could be subject to a fine up to $1,000 according to a new order by Bexar County Judge along with Mayor Ron Nirenberg.
Face coverings help reduce the any virus particles from projected in a further distance while talking or breathing than without a mask.
According to a deep dive in to Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to reopen Texas, he authorized local municipalities to allow them to set their own plans for their own community. However, no Texan can be placed under arrest or jailed for any violation for not wearing a mask.
Local business however have the power to not let anyone inside their building or deny them of service if a customer does not comply.
Earlier this month, San Antonio based H-E-B relaxed their face covering policy to allow customers to enter and shop without any face coverings but will revert Monday morning.
H-E-B stated that they appreciate the judge’s work in prioritizing the health of the community and will be complying to the new health order.
Masks aren’t required while outdoors if you’re able to maintain 6-feet of distance between you and others.
The order goes into effect Monday for citizens 10 years or older.
