Several area parks by the San Antonio river will close for Labor Day weekend

Thursday, the San Antonio River Authority announced in a press release that they will be temporarily closing several parks that are prone to large gatherings ahead of Labor Day weekend.

These closures are to prevent large gatherings to help slow the spread of COVID-19. A week ago, Judge Nelson Wolff had a similar order to close all of Bexar County parks over the Labor Day holiday.

Here is a list of the park closures announced by the River Authority.

  • Confluence Park (310 W. Mitchell St.)
  • Portions of the Mission Reach section of the San Antonio River Walk
  • Pavilion along the river near Roosevelt Park
  • Concepci√≥n Portal and adjoining green space near Concepci√≥n Park
  • Pavilion along the river between Theo Avenue and Mission Road
  • Pavilion at Mission Road
  • Pavilion along the river between Mission Road and Roosevelt Avebue
  • Pavilion along the river near Padre Park
  • Mission Parkway from SE Military to Villamain, including Espada Park, Acequia Park and the Acequia Pavilion
  • Pavilion along the river at Camino Coahuilteca near Mission Espada
  • River Crossing Park (6890 South Loop 1604 E.)
  • Graytown Park on the San Antonio River (1239 CR 125)
  • John William Helton San Antonio River Nature Park (15662 FM 775)

The SARA had also mentioned in their release that the trails will remain open along the Museum Reach and Mission Reach areas and also the San Pedro Culture Park for recreational use only.
