According to documents that were submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission, Sea World of San Antonio laid off 242 employees.
The layoff was because of low attendance and revenue the park had due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The park reopened in June and at a reduced operating schedule with smaller guest capacity, the theme park couldn’t recover the funds to operate at normal levels.
Layoffs went into effect September 4th letting affected employees know about the separation and their severance pay. Full-time and salaried employees received four weeks of severance pay. Those who were affected by the lay-offs can reapply at any Sea World park in the U.S.
