Santikos will open sixth theater Labor Day weekend

San Antonio based Santikos just announced that they will be opening up the Galaxy Theatre located at 2938 NE Loop 410 to customers on Friday, September 4th.

They will be screening Christopher Nolan’s film “Tenet”.

The theatre reopened in November 2019 after a renovation that added luxurious power recliners and changed their named from Rialto to the original name of “The Galaxy” when it first opened in 1979.

Back in March 2020, Santikos shut down their theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After Texas reopened, the entertainment group reopened five theaters to the public. Palladium, Casa Blanca and Cibolo on May 2nd. Mayan Palace on May 21 and Embassy on June 26th.

As of now, we don’t have word on any further openings of Santikos such as Silverado, Bijou or the Northwest theatre.

Santikos is participating in a nation lead effort called Cinema Safe, which is a program promoting protocols and guidelines for a safe return to the theaters.

All theaters require guests to wear masks when entering. Maintain social distancing. Enjoy a reduced capacity theatre with air filtration. All staff are required to wear masks and frequently wash their hands. All theaters and frequently touched surfaces have been deep cleaned after every showing.

Guests will take notice of a modified concession stand with either credit cards or contactless payment methods. The theaters eliminated all community condiments stations, self-serve beverage stations and self-serve butter station.
