San Antonio’s iconic “Enchilada Red” central library soon to reopen

Join us in welcoming back San Antonio’s largest public library! The San Antonio Public Central Library at 600 Soledad Street was part of a $3 million City of San Antonio 2017 – 2022 Bond Program for approved renovations by voters. One of the projects was to refresh the iconic “Enchilada Red” tone of the building with a fresh paint job. A second program included renovations to the first and third floors as well as upgrading the entrance and a new modern children’s section.

The first floor will have an inviting art walk, a new main desk area and inclusive restrooms with adult-sized changing tables. The Children’s Library within the Central Library includes a new story room, interactive early literacy play area, a new family restroom, a lactation room, and a brand new Family Connect computer lab.

A big celebration that will take place at the iconic “Enchilada Red” building downtown San Antonio that will have activities and programming for all-ages! At 10am on Saturday, April 1, a ceremony will take place followed by a ribbon cutting.
