Kura Sushi, a revolving sushi chain that is based in Japan has their heart set to expand in the Alamo City. Currently the closest location is in Austin, Texas. There are 32 national locations total.
The concept of this restaurant is that 100 different varieties of sushi will be carried on a revolving conveyor belt circling around the restaurant until a customer chooses which type of sushi they want to enjoy. Customers can also order custom plates that will arrive to your table by a different express conveyor belt. After the consumer is finished with their plate, they can drop it in the plate disposal where a computer will keep track of how much sushi was consumed. Customers can also win cool prizes by eating sushi. Kura’s mascot will make an appearance on the screen if you dispose enough plates, then you’ll get a special prize.
The restaurant will be opening up at 255 E. Basse Road #384 which was formerly the space Papouli’s Greek Grill was at. The renovation will come at a tune of $1.2 million that includes renovation and constructing new equipment.
