San Antonio’s central library downtown to get a splash of paint

It has been awhile since the San Antonio Central Library downtown at 600 Soledad St got a paint job. Actually the last time it was painted was back in 2011. Now the hot Texas sun faded the paint once again.

The San Antonio Central Public Library had first opened up their doors in 1995, when the outside color scheme of the six story structure was a controversial “enchilada red”, and had everyone in town talking about it.

Today, locals calls it the “enchilada library” and crews will paint the structure the iconic color once again in 2022.

Did you know that the library downtown has been featured in such movies like in Selena and as OSS Junior headquarters in the film Spy Kids?
