San Antonio’s Beloved Willow’s Cheese Shop to Close near Year-End
San Antonio, TX – November 11, 2024 – Willow’s Cheese Shop, San Antonio’s only dedicated cheese shop, has announced its plans to close on Christmas Eve, marking the end of a unique era for cheese lovers and food enthusiasts in the Castle Hills area. Since its opening on August 19, 2023, Willow’s has offered a carefully curated selection of gourmet cheeses, meats, and fine foods, gaining a loyal customer base and a reputation as a destination for quality ingredients. Operated by the mother-daughter team Velma and Gabby Armijo, the shop has served the community with a mission rooted in their love for fine food and their pride as a woman-, minority-, and veteran-owned business.
Located at 6413 Blanco Road, Willow’s Cheese Shop is known not only for its diverse cheese selections but also for gourmet accompaniments, including cured meats, nuts, dried fruits, specialty oils, vinegars, and global coffees and teas. Customers have also enjoyed cheese pairing classes, where they could learn how to create harmonious flavor profiles and elevate their culinary skills.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Willow’s wrote, “Thank you all for the love and support; unfortunately, we are closing Christmas Eve. We appreciate everyone that has come in and supported us. We’re still taking orders for the holidays, and until then, we’re open Tuesday-Sunday.”
With the holiday season approaching, Willow’s is encouraging customers to place orders to savor the shop’s gourmet offerings one last time. The shop will remain open Tuesday through Sunday until its final day, and with no minimum purchase requirement, every cheese is cut to order, allowing customers to purchase just the right amount.
San Antonio’s food scene will feel the loss of this beloved cheese haven, which has been a favorite for creating charcuterie boards, gourmet meals, and unique gifts. Willow’s Cheese Shop has brought joy to foodies and served as a cherished community gathering spot, offering a delightful taste of fine foods to San Antonio.
