San Antonio Zoo transforms into a drive thru zoo

Gas up your ride and grab the family because the San Antonio Zoo has transformed their sidewalks into a path for vehicles. This is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to check out 11 exhibits along the one-way route in their first ever “drive-thru zoo”.

At $40 per vehicle, the zoo provided an unforgettable experience with an audio guided tour along the way explaining each exhibit. Drivers will make sure they don’t put the pedal to the metal and maintain a top speed of a whopping 4 MPH.

There will be restroom opportunities and curbside snack stations to stop at along the way according to the map.

Before you get ready to go make sure that your vehicle fits the requirements to enter.

Your vehicle cannot be larger than 198โ€ long x 78โ€ wide x 76โ€ high.

Tickets for the drive-thru zoo are available online. Click here for the tickets.

Hours of operation: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting on May 1st through the 3rd

This is a great opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy the zoo, which has been struggling financially during the coronavirus pandemic. They have came up with this way to keep revenue flowing so locals can support. The zoo depends on ticket sales, donations and grants to keep their operations alive to care for the animals. If you want to make a donation, you can visit the zoo’s website: https://sazoo.org/emergency-fund/ย
