San Antonio Zoo releases statement after falling tree incident that injured seven

On Wednesday afternoon, a group of guests visiting the San Antonio Zoo had an unexpected surprise when a tree broke and fell and injured seven guests with one of those guests with being critically injured.

Members of the San Antonio Zoo Incident Response Team and the San Antonio Fire Department had quickly sprung into action to assist the injured. One of the guests had reported suffering a life-threatening injury.

The incident had grasped national news coverage with ABC, Fox News and the Today Show.

Witnesses had captured video moments after the incident and had posted to TikTok.

“On Wednesday, a large tree branch unexpectedly broke and fell at San Antonio Zoo, injuring several guests. Zoo first responders and local emergency crews were on site within minutes to treat those who were injured. We are working with our internal and external teams to investigate the cause of the breakage to prevent this unusual event from happening again.
