San Antonio Zoo Offers $8 Admission for Bexar County Locals Day
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County residents can enjoy a day at the San Antonio Zoo for just $8 during the next Locals Day on Wednesday, July 22. Presented by Community First Health Plans, the special event offers discounted admission while highlighting some of the zoo’s newest attractions and family-friendly educational experiences.
This week’s Locals Day celebrates the entire Bexar County community, welcoming residents from every San Antonio City Council district and Bexar County precinct to experience the zoo at a reduced price.
Visitors can explore Zoorassic Park, presented by Bank of Texas, where 22 larger-than-life animatronic dinosaurs are spread throughout the zoo’s pathways and animal habitats. Guests will encounter prehistoric favorites including a towering Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops and Velociraptor as they journey through the exhibit. Zoorassic Park is included with zoo admission and remains free for San Antonio Zoo members.
Guests can also visit Congo Falls, the zoo’s newest habitat, which offers an immersive opportunity to observe gorillas in a thoughtfully designed environment focused on conservation, education and animal wellbeing. Admission to Congo Falls is also included with zoo entry and is free for members.
In addition to the exhibits, Locals Day will feature special community activations from CPS Energy and Bexar County.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., CPS Energy will present its Arc & Spark electrical safety demonstration every 20 minutes on the Great Lawn. The live presentation educates families about the dangers of downed power lines and electrical hazards while providing practical safety tips that can help prevent serious injuries.
San Antonio Zoo hosts Locals Days throughout the year, giving Bexar County residents the opportunity to visit the zoo at a discounted rate while celebrating different City Council districts and county precincts. The $8 admission offer is available only on select Locals Day dates and requires proof of Bexar County residency.
