San Antonio to Host Filming of Paramount+’s *1923* Second Season

SAN ANTONIO (August 13, 2024) — The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture, in collaboration with various local entities, is set to welcome the production team of MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios as they prepare to film the second season of Paramount+’s acclaimed series 1923 this fall.

1923, a Golden Globe-nominated prequel to Taylor Sheridan’s blockbuster show Yellowstone, features Hollywood icons Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. While the first season was shot in locations such as Montana, Malta, and Africa, the second season will predominantly be filmed across Texas, with San Antonio playing a significant role.

“The selection of San Antonio as a key filming destination for this major project is a testament to the diverse and dynamic environment our city offers to the television and film industry,” said Krystal Jones, Executive Director of the Department of Arts & Culture. “San Antonio’s unique blend of historic and modern settings makes it an ideal backdrop for any narrative.”

Austin will serve as the production base for the filming of 1923’s second season. The production team cited San Antonio’s proximity, rich array of historic sites, and the city’s film-friendly services, including streamlined film permitting, as major factors in their decision to film here.
