The San Antonio Spurs NBA team has announced that they have waived their 2021 12th NBA pick Joshua Primo in a statement made on October 28, 2022.
While the Spurs didn’t go into much detail as to why 19-year-old Primo was waived, they did make a statement.
“It is our hope that, in the long run, this decision will serve the best interest of both the organization and Joshua,” said Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO RC Buford.
This decision comes to shock to fans and around the league.
Primo wrote a statement to ESPN regarding his release from the Spurs.
“I know that you all are surprised by today’s announcement. I’ve been dealing with previous trauma I suffered and will now take this time to focus on my mental health treatment more fully. I hope to be able to discuss these issues in the future so I can help others who have suffered in a similar way. I appreciate privacy at this time.”
