It’s very understandable that San Antonio Spurs fans are very protective of their team and don’t want to even think of them playing in another city.
We’re here to comfort you and let you know that it’s okay, we understand your feeling. At the same time, we want to assure you that the Spurs will be always here in San Antonio, Por Vida!
With the construction of the San Antonio Spurs’ brand spanking new practice facility at The Rock at La Cantera, which is a massive state-of-the-art building on 50-acres on the Northside at I-10 and 1604 in one of the fastest growing areas of the city. There’s no doubt that the Spurs just made it concrete they’re not going anywhere else with this move.
Spurs fans are still unsettled and still believe that the team will be packing up and moving north up I-35. While that is not true, the Spurs will still make a commitment to play at least one game up in the state capital annually. This has a purpose. The purpose is to build a fanbase with the Austinites and the Central Texas region. As you may know that both San Antonio and Austin are quick growing cities in Texas and soon may merge into one another.
With this said, Spurs fans are still not comfortable sharing the home team that has called San Antonio home for 50 years. They will continue to call the Alamo City home for years to come.
The Spurs will be ending their 22/23 season for two “home” games, even though they’re away. Thursday, April 6 against the Portland Trailblazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Spurs are representing Central/South Texas!
Posts made by the San Antonio Spurs social media accounts also have caused much more anxiety to the fans as they post in the comments on the official accounts.
Spurs fans have also stated that it was unsettling to watch the Moody Center in Austin transform into the Spurs’ home court.
