San Antonio Public Library Mourns the Loss of Beloved Advocate Ann Van Pelt

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The San Antonio Public Library community is mourning the loss of Ann Van Pelt, a passionate advocate whose dedication to the Landa Branch Library and its surrounding grounds has left an enduring mark on the city.

Ann Van Pelt was known for her unwavering commitment to preserving San Antonio’s history and enhancing the beauty of public spaces. One of her most notable contributions was her role in the formation of the Landa Gardens Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that envisioned, designed, and continues to maintain the lush, park-like setting that surrounds the historic Landa Branch Library.

Her vision transformed the library’s outdoor areas into a welcoming green space enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. From peaceful strolls to family outings and community events, the grounds at Landa have become a cherished part of San Antonio’s cultural and natural landscape—all thanks to Ann’s dedication and passion.
