San Antonio parks go smoke free June 1st

Think twice before you light up. Beginning June 1st, the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation will start to enforce the tobacco free zones at all city parks, plazas, greenways and other municipal recreational centers such as city pools and basketball courts.

The tobacco free zone is including the River Walk, Market Square and La Villita. Signage will be posted up at various spots around the city to remind people. Those signs are paid for by U.S. Department of Heath and will not have any impact to the city’s current budget.

San Antonio joins 52 other Texas cities which have adapted the tobacco free zones. Those caught vaping, smoking or chewing tobacco will be fined up to $200.
