San Antonio mayor gives a warning not to gather for the holidays

Mayor of San Antonio Ron Nirenberg and his team sent out an alert to everyone’s cell phone in San Antonio and Bexar County with a warning. The warning reads: “More than 1700 new COVID-19 cases today. More than 900 patients in the hospital. The virus is spreading and causing high stress on hospitals. Slow the spread.”
The risk level currently is at “moderate” and worsening. Now that the holidays and New Year’s eve are around the corner, the issue is large gatherings with those outside of your household.
The city is monitoring testing capacity, contact tracing, hospital trends, average case rate, positivity rate and hospital stress.
You might have just received an alert on your phone, notifying you that COVID-19 cases are surging around San Antonio & Bexar County.
Adjusting our holiday celebrations this year will ensure that they can continue for many years to come.
