On Monday, San Antonio Independent School District announced that they will be holding the Class of 2020 graduation ceremony after all. The even will be held outside beginning of June.
โWe are excited that we are able to move forward with in-person ceremonies, especially earlier in the summer, which allows our graduates to begin pursuing their future plans,โ said Superintendent Pedro Martinez. โIt is important to honor our studentsโ achievements as they begin to make a transition to the next phase in life.โ
To adhere to the social distancing standards in place, officials stated that each graduate will get two tickets and one parking spot. Those attending the graduation service must wear masks and sit in designated areas.
Participation is voluntary to those who want to walk the stage and receive their diploma.
Further details will be posted online and shared during the campus senior meeting that specifies specific plans in place including arrival times and departures to ensure the proper flow of participants and not to create a congestion outside.
The district officials are looking to meet with city officials about the city and county health guidelines that are in place and if any modifications need to be made.
The ceremony will be livestreamed and videotaped like in past years.
You can see each High School’s graduation schedule on SAISD’s website.
