SAN ANTONIO โ€” San Antonio International Airport has strengthened its emergency response capabilities with the addition of a powerful new Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting vehicle.

Airport officials recently introduced the Oshkosh Stryker 6×6 HRET, a state-of-the-art apparatus designed to enhance response operations and further reinforce the airportโ€™s commitment to keeping travelers and employees safe.

The new vehicle joins the airportโ€™s Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting squad, which is specially trained to respond to aircraft-related emergencies. Built for speed, durability and advanced fire suppression, the Stryker 6×6 HRET is engineered to operate in demanding airfield environments.

The HRET, or High Reach Extendable Turret, allows firefighters to deploy water or firefighting agents from an elevated position, improving precision and efficiency during aircraft incidents. The vehicle is designed to carry large volumes of water, foam and dry chemical agents, enabling crews to respond rapidly and effectively.

Airport leadership said the investment reflects ongoing efforts to modernize equipment and maintain the highest standards of safety for passengers, flight crews and airport personnel.

With continued growth in passenger traffic and air service, the addition of the Oshkosh Stryker enhances readiness on the airfield and ensures the airport remains prepared to respond to emergencies at a momentโ€™s notice.

San Antonio International Airport serves millions of travelers annually, and officials say the new apparatus is another step forward in maintaining a safe and secure travel environment for the region.
