San Antonio Food Bank Extends Turkey Collection Drive to Reach 20,000 Goal for Holiday Meals

San Antonio, TX – The San Antonio Food Bank has extended its turkey collection drive with an ambitious goal of gathering 20,000 turkeys for local families in need this holiday season. The turkeys will be distributed to families through the Food Bank’s direct services and partnerships with local food pantries, ensuring families can celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with a traditional holiday meal.

How to Help

Community members are invited to support the initiative in two ways:

  • Drop Off a Frozen Turkey: Turkeys can be donated at designated H-E-B Plus locations throughout San Antonio every Saturday in November from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Online Donations: A $15 donation can be made at www.safoodbank.org, with each donation helping provide a turkey to a family in need.

The collection events will be held each Saturday, November 2 through November 23, at various H-E-B Plus stores:

  • November 16: 12125 Alamo Ranch Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78253
  • November 23: All San Antonio-area H-E-B Plus stores

Media Opportunity: For media coverage, the central location at 20935 US Highway 281 North, San Antonio, TX 78258 will provide visual opportunities of volunteers and donors, with pre-scheduled interviews available with Food Bank representatives and event volunteers.

Volunteers will be positioned at store entrances collecting turkeys, and donors will have the option to either drop off a turkey or make a financial contribution on-site. Media partners are encouraged to share this information with the community to help raise awareness and inspire more donations to reach the 20,000-turkey goal.
