The XFL, the professional football league known for its fast-paced and exciting gameplay, recently conducted its Rookie Draft on June 16, 2023. The draft saw teams selecting players from various colleges across the country. One team that made notable picks in the draft was the San Antonio Brahmas. Let’s take a closer look at the players they selected and what they bring to the team.
First on the list is Jahleel Billingsley, a talented tight end from Texas. Billingsley is known for his athleticism and versatility on the field. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 230 pounds, he possesses the size and strength to overpower defenders. His excellent route-running and reliable hands make him a valuable target in the passing game. With his ability to block effectively, Billingsley adds versatility to the Brahmas’ offensive schemes.
Next up is Brendan Bordner, an offensive lineman from Florida Atlantic. At 6’5″ and 300 pounds, Bordner brings size and strength to the Brahmas’ offensive line. He is known for his technique and agility, allowing him to protect the quarterback and create running lanes for the team’s ball carriers. Bordner’s presence will provide much-needed stability and protection for the Brahmas’ offense.
Carlos Carriere, a wide receiver from Central Michigan, is another exciting addition to the San Antonio Brahmas. Carriere has excellent speed and agility, allowing him to create separation from defenders and make big plays down the field. His precise route-running and reliable hands make him a dangerous weapon in the passing game. Carriere’s ability to stretch the field will add a new dimension to the Brahmas’ offense.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Brahmas selected Darrious Gaines from Western Colorado. Gaines is a talented defensive back with great instincts and ball skills. He has the ability to read plays quickly, break on the ball, and make interceptions. Gaines’ speed and agility make him an effective pass defender, capable of shutting down opposing receivers. His presence in the secondary will bolster the Brahmas’ defense.
R.J. Hubert, a defensive back from Utah, was another defensive player selected by the Brahmas. Hubert is known for his physicality and tackling ability. He has good coverage skills and the versatility to play both cornerback and safety positions. Hubert’s toughness and instincts make him a reliable defender in both the passing and running game.
Lorenzo McCaskill, a linebacker from Kansas, brings his athleticism and playmaking ability to the Brahmas’ defense. Dillon Thomas, hailing from Missouri State University, has been making waves in college football with his exceptional skills and performance on the field. As a defensive back, Thomas possesses a strong and agile build that enables him to excel in coverage and make impactful plays.
The XFL Combine, which will be held July 25-27 in Arlington, Texas, will be an invite only. Invitations will be sent to the top performers from the showcases earlier in the summer.
