50 years ago, armed gunmen stormed the Brackenridge Eagle train in what was the last known train robbery reported in the state of Texas.
On July 18, 1970, guests had thought there was a skit going on before realizing that they were really getting robbed. Two soldiers who were stationed at Fort Sam Houston were arrested and brought to justice for the crime. They both got 10 to 20 years behind bars.
Fast Forward to 2020, guests can relive the experience with a reenactment.
The reenactment of the anniversary takes place on Saturday, July 18., 2020 every hour from 11 a.m. till 8p.m.
Tickets must be purchased online in order to go back in time with a reenactment of the hold up. Money collected will be donated to the Zoo’s Eagle train operation.
