River parade to honor armed forces in May
The San Antonio River Walk is honoring all of the men and women in the armed forces of the United States with a Salute Our Heroes themed river parade on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
The parade is open to the public and free to observe 26-patriotically themed floats along with local businesses and non-profit organizations who honor active and retired military.
This year Llyod Alton Dogget II will be the Grand Marshal. Dogget is an American attorney and congressman for the 35th district in Texas and an advocate for the veterans benefits.
Live entertainment will be on stage at the Arneson River Theater honoring the red,white and blue where seating is limited.
Half of the seating is dedicated to recruits in the branches and the remainder is first come, first served. The parade lasts approximately one-hour starting at 6pm leaving the marina winding through 2 and 1/2 miles of the San Antonio River down to the Arneson River theater.
The Armed Forces River Parade is one of the nation’s largest parade in honor of the men and women who serve. It is televised locally on CW 35 and nationally in 25 markets.
