Popular south side restaurant opening back up soon

Pollos Asados Los Nortenos at 4642 Rigsby will be throwing chicken on the pits once more. The restaurant announced that they will open back up on Thursday, April 26 at 10am.

The restaurant has been closed since September 29th when the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality had filed a lawsuit against the business for violating the Texas Clean Air Act.

Since then, Frank Garcia the owner has installed a new grill area that is a little larger than the previous set-up along with new air filtration system and a smoke scrubbing system.

Garcia had told the San Antonio Express News: “It’s been very exhausting and stressful, but we received the help we needed from the city. We obey by the law, and that’s what we’ve been going through every detail to do, we want to keep the city, environment and the neighbors happy.”

Previously neighbors had said that they could see and smell the bellowing smoke from blocks away from the establishment.

Pollos Asados Los Nortenos is a popular chicken restaurant that cooks up to 800 chickens a day with mesquite charcoal. Customers are often lined up wrapping around the building. They also serve other delicious food like burgers and fajitas, which are also a popular item on the menu.
