Popular opportunity to kayak in the business district of the San Antonio River Walk extended

Good news for those who want to take the rare opportunity to kayak the typically busy business district of the San Antonio River Walk. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hustle and bustle of the San Antonio river is at a stand still.

The City of San Antonio just announced that the popular kayaking program will be offered only on weekends through January 31st.

The self guided tour will run 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but will not operate on Christmas or New Year’s Day.

Reservations will come at a cost of $50 for two hours. Those who choose to launch their own kayak, paddle and life jacket into the river will have to make a reservation and a payment of $15.

Back in October, the city along with the San Antonio River Walk Association partnered with Go Rio Cruises to offer this very, very rare opportunity.

About 1,800 have taken up the offer to kayak in what would be a busy part of the river with barges going back and forth. A part of the funds from the kayaking experience goes back to the San Antonio River Walk Association.
