Phase 2 of Gov. Abbott’s plan starts on May 18

Monday, May 18th begins phase two of Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to restart the Texas economy. Certain conditions for the establishment and customer will apply and is explained on the “Open Texas Website.”

Gyms, fitness and exercise facilities are able to reopen at 25 percent of the capacity but the shower and locker rooms to remain closed. Customers are encouraged to wear gloves while using equipment.

Business and office buildings can reopen at 25 percent of the workspace capacity.

Added to the list that can open May 18th: Child care centers, child care facilities, massage and personal care, beauty services, tattoo parlors, waxing facilities, piercing studios, hair loss treatment and growth services, youth clubs, youth club participants, youth sports operators, youth sports families.

Retail stores, restaurants, movie theatres and malls can expand to 50 percent of the capacity.

The following establishments can open up to the public on May 22, 2020

Bars, bar patrons, bowling alleys, bingo halls, simulcasting, skating rinks, bowling, rodeos, zoos, aquariums, natural caverns at 25 percent capacity.

Amusement parks are continued to be looked at for reopening in the future.

The governor recommends Texans wear masks and social distance 6-feet from the nearest person. However, his executive order does not allow local law enforcement to impose any penalties or fines for not complying. Also, please respect each other.
